Swordtail Gravid Spots

1 of our female swordtails that we bought 2 days ago , had fry yesterday morning , she still has a gravid spot near her bum , but isnt looking as puffy as when we first got her .

How long do gravid spots take to fade from a female , and how long do they appear before birth?

Good question. With fry, its seems the females are almost born with a gravid spot right away, then some say the gravid is the babies eyes inside the womb but fry so young aren't sexually mature to be pregnant yet. IMO, i think the gravid spot is always present(sometimes clear, but still present) but more enlarged and darkened with fry inside and since females can hold a males sperm for multiple births even without males present, they're almost constantly pregnant so there's always going to be a gravid spot right?
So in answer to your ques, her gravid spot won't go away completely but will diminish(along with her belly size) then grow again as the cycle of pregnancy starts again.

the other female doesnt seem to have one , but flo's is really dark

Maybe the swordtail was stressed from the move and had some of her fry a bit early? Perhaps that's why she is still large. I had a guppy that did that. She had fry not too long after I got her and yet she was still large. Then about a week later, she had more fry.

will keep an eye on her she is still a bit puffy and still has the gravid spot
