swordtail fry

i have had 4 fry sword tails in my tank fry, 2 are about 1.5" now, i thought they were both fems but the one has a *unit* lol like a male? it kinda looks like a lil stub of a tail is developing but almost undectable..the father was a red velvet sword as the fem..he jumped out.....anyway, this so called male doenst have any black on his head like the parent male did or any black on the tail..asi say he or she may have a lil stub starting but its for sure a male as i can see the unit 9not sure what ya cala that i know there is a tech. name..

No, they can be sexed without their "sword" same as any live bearer .....
 
Yes, it does take a long time for a male to develop, it has taken mine a whole year, and bubbles who i thought would be a girl, is now turning to her male state, and has her (Dont know the technical name for it) male bit, and it now growing her tail... i should get used to saying his
 
YA I KNOw that, WONKA!!! like i wrote , i see the one has a *rod* but there really wsnt a sword *tail* present as of yet, just maybe a lil stub starting...and even tho the male has a rod, again as i said, he has no black color on tail or head like the father did (he was a red velvet sword with black on head + sword)
