hey
all lastnight my swordtails had alot of babys
there in there own tank atm the fry are
whats best temp for them to be at to grow well and quick?
thanks

the same as the other main tank, round about 25oC. raising temp to about 28oC ive heard makes them grow quicker, but i wouldnt suggest it, let nature take its course, feed crushed flakes, then baby brine shrimp when bigger
oh and well done

i would leave the temp at the same as the main tank 22-25oC.

love to see some pics :)

thanks guys
thats about temp there tanks as but just wanted to check
yea ive been feeding them crushed flakes its hard to tell if there eating tho
il ry get pics wen there abit bigger coz dont think my camra will be able to see them that well atm lol
theres quit alot of them tho

make sure u crush the flakes small enough to go in there mouths. i just get a ruler and crunch it when its small enough. u will notice when they are eating it you will see very small poo. good luck :)

ok then
i hav been crushing it very very small
cant even notice in wen its on the water lol
ok well thans
il keep an eye on them

Keeping the temp high, feeding brine shrimp and doing daily water changes will all increase the growth rate of any fish.

However I'm a firm believer that this results in weak fish, doing all that but keeping the water at 25C or lower resualts in better fish but take longer to grow, and as i used to show fish i was looking for quality fish.

The faster growth results in lower quality fish, or is it the things that lead to faster growth that lead to low quality fish? You've got my interest now.

Fish are cold blooded so the warmer the water the faster they grow.

Thats the bases.

Warm water = faster growth, but shorter life span and weaker fish in general.
Cooler water = Slower growth rate, but longer lived fish and generally stronger.

That makes logical sense. Do you think I can win an argument with my doctor about lowering my metabolism by not exercising and getting fat as a method to prolong my lifespan? I'll use this argument. You only have so many heartbeats in a lifetime. Why waste extra heartbeats exercising?

hey just a questions about the swordtail fry
do they grow everyday?
coz im sure ive noticed a lil difference already obv not much
thanks
