I have some swordtail fry that were born two days ago. How fast do they grow? When will the mom have fry again? Anything else i should know would be great. They are in a two gallon tank and there are less than 20 the most that i have counted at a time is 17 and there are no guarantees that i didn't count one more than twice or miss some. I am feeding then fish flakes that are very very tiny. I am going to go buy some brine shrimp this week. i have changed about half of the water every day since they were born. I also have two rainbow platy, two mollies, two fancy guppies, a newt, a pleco, and a white catfish type thing.

You already posted this in the breeding section... I take it the problem has been addressed...

Also, this is the section to post questions on livebearer breeding and fry rearing. Mods don't want livebearer breeding osts in the breeding section. :/

that is why i moved it all here after i read that it was supposed to be here. Sorry if it was wrong but i thought that i would maybeget more advice having on this one since it is talking about theese types of fish in general.

All those in the same tank?

What size tank?

50% of the water is too much to do every other day. Trim it down to 5-10%.

Newt? I don't know if that's a good idea.

White catfish... Search for "albino corydora" on google. This is most likely it. have a better description of it?

Is that a common pleco? If so, they get to over 15" in length...

Where is the swordtail(s)?

the fry are in a two gallon and the rest are in a ten gallon.

albino corydora that is what it is.

it is a common pleco but i have had them before and never had asize problem with them.

the swordtails are in my ten gallon so they don't eat the fry.

My Swords seem to birth every forty days or so. I just recently got a breeding trap so have only saved one batch. I let the thirteen I saved out after eight days and they seemed to be doing fine and the other fish were just checking them out so I thought they were big enough. I left the room for ten minutes and when I came back my pleco was on the prowl and nine of the fry were missing. The rest went back in the trap for a few more days. I am not sure it was him but the pleco is definately big enough to have done the dirty on them.

This is my swordtails first batch the lady that i got her from said that she was prego so i but her in a two gallon breeding tank and two days later she gave birth. So then i moved her back in my 10gallon tank and the fry are in the two gallon until i can buy aten gallon. I already have a LFS that will buy the fry off of me. She has been taking Zebra Finch from me for a while already. Otherwise i also have a dog, a ferret, and three cats. MAN do i have a lot of pets. OH WELL i love all animals.

Are there any fresh water shrimp. I am hatching some brine shrimp but was just wandering. I also bought another 10 gal. tank and am saving for a 125 gal. tank it is used but otherwise there is nothing wrong with it. It also comes with a stand with storage compartments underneath. It is only $250 instead of a new one for $1300. I thought that was the time to get a good deal.
