1 of my new swordtails has been acting weird. Its just been sitting on the bottom most of the time, its fins are closed half of the time, and its tail fin had a white fluffy spot (not ick) and now it seems that it might be fin rought since it seems to have slowly disinagrated. I have just put it in my 1 gal quarintine tank by itself and she still seems to be a fighter and swimming around more. I've used aquari-sol which usally workes very well as my local aqua stores use it too. She seems ok at the moment but I want her out of the tank for now. Also she was in a 25 gal community tank, ph 7.3, no amonia, and low nitrates, and no one seem to bother her. I got another one with her that loves her new tank so it might just be I got the wrong one out of the pick. Also I thought maybe but she's not pregnant which I hope for at first. Now my other question was my young male pearl "I'm guessing sparred with my older male at night and he got one of his feeler fins cut in 2" and has a little bit of skin flailing up where it still is in good condition. Should I just be careful about how it goes?, I've treated him for fin-wrought also and his fin seems to be a bit better, He's still as happy as can be and eats, does things that he usally does. Should I cut the unhealthy part off with some medical scisors or will it grow back normally? I'm am also sorry I can't get photos as my cam is in the shop!

Please if anyone has a oppion or idea let me know, I can't afford any meds right now since I'm in a tight budget so if theres any home remedy's please let me know and for the gourami and swordtail would adding salt help the conditions?

I would leave the fins and not cut them as it will stress the fish out to much.
The spot does it have any redness to it.
Also want to make sure it dosn't look like a caulifower growth with being on the fin.

The fish with the finrot is it finding it hard to swim and keep balance.
Usually with livebeares when they lose half of there fins they tend not to make it.

Got to go now sorry falling a sleep.

Well the swordtail had a fuzzy patch but it now just disinagrated. shes fighting hard but she still dosnt swim like her sister and only swims around when frighten. I also recently checked and one of my aussie rainbow fish's fin look edged and white a little bit so I think it spread a little bit. Thos are the only ones who seem to have it as for the gourami I'm keeping and eye on but he still seems to be himself. So should I just put my fish to sleep or what? Also what meds(names) could I use in my main tank to make sure it dosn't spread? I've done 50% water changes weekly so I'm hoping this dosnt spread.

White edging to fins is finrot, I would add a bacterial med to the tank.
Don't forget to increase aeration in the tank as meds reduce 02 in the water.
Good luck.

I was thinking about getting more meds just for fin rot as in my main tank a couple of fish have miner fin rot  I just hope its easy to cure! also should I increase the temp its around 80 right now. Also how long is it to cure if I get it early?

Whats your location.

NV. I got some good meds that my aquatics store says works fine. It seems to be doing the job although my young male pearl gouramis infected fin seems to be alittle fizzy looking and I put all the fish together and my sword that didn't look like she was gonna make it is now swimming around more.

NV is that in america.

Sorry from the uk and when you write just captials not sure which country you are from.
Maracyn for finrot.
Good luck.
