Swordfish gave birth!!

Hello,

I am new to tropical fish and fish breeding. I just had to write in and tell everyone that my beautiful black opaly swordfish gave birth last night/early this morning. I had her in a breeding net for 2 days but since she hadn't had her babies yet I decided to wash the net out (was dirty from food etc) anyways so I let her out....and wouldn't you know it she gave birth while she was out of the breeding net...this morning I woke up and saw she was skinny...so I thought oh crap...so I started searching all around my tank..and I managed to find 13 fry!!!

This is my first big sucsess...the last couple of times my swordfish/guppies gave birth I've only managed to find one of each. I've raised 1 orange swordfish and shes about 5 weeks old. I also have 1 guppy fry who is 1 week old. The little swordfish (named her peaches) I've let her out in the main tank...none of my other fish can eat her she's too big. She loves it in there...swims like crazy. I'm really happy that I managed to keep her alive!!!

congrats on the fish!! my fish never give birth in the breeding net, just find them swimming around in the gravel!

my female guppy whouldn't have her babies in the net so I gave up lol let her out and she had them...
I don't like putting bigger fish in he breeder net. stressed mine out to much

Thanks so much everyone!!

All the fry are doing well...they are so tiny!! When I crush up food for them I think ok that's so tiny they can eat that...then I put it in and it's still too big

Soon my other female swordtail is going to give birth..her body is getting real boxy shaped

I had one of my female pregnant guppies in the breeding net for about 2 days...but nothing happened so I felt sorry for her and let her out this morning. She's thin but has a really dark black gravid spot. I think it's her first pregnancy.
