Swollen fire belly newt

Our one fire belly newts throat is buldging-like, and its body is fat. at first i thought babies? but then i noticed the body was fat, here are a few pics. theyre a bit blurry so hopefully you can see what im talking about. i hope you can help. here are some photos. it has been like this for almost a month now, but no it seems hes so swollen he cant even close his mouth

could he have swollowed to much gravel??

Or can you think of anything he could have eaten to inflame his mouth.
