Swollen Eye

please help!

one of my black mollies has a big round swollen eye - its getting really big.

any idea what this is and how i can cure it? will it spread to my other fish??

hmmm. i hope its not parasites or infection. My powerhead is only the one that comes standard with a juwel aquarium.......

Sign of eye flukes is a white specs on the eye.

no white specs - just looks like a big glass eye

If the eye is bulging out it's popeye and closely related to dropsy because of the build up of fluid, how big is the tank, plus water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph, how many fish and which type.

tank is 180 litres (48 US gallons) - ammonia and nitrate levels are fine, just checked....

water is hard and alkaline and i have a community of tetras, corys, sailfin mollies, black mollies and danios

If the eye is swollen try melafix for now, if no improvement in a few days, you will have to use anti internal bacteria med by interpet, good luck.
