How much do I need? :dunno:

How do I clean? :dunno:

Is play sand from hardware stores good for aquarium? :dunno:

Any and all input would be welcomed :D

Play sand is fine, a lot cheaper but will be harder to wash. The two washing methods that work best in my experience are splitting it in a bucket or a pillowcase. I take it in small amounts in a bucket and fill with water, stir it and rinse until it rinses clear. To use a pillowcase, just put the sand in the case and run it under a faucet or hose, the debris will run out the bottom of the case.

I would think a 50lb bag should do it...maybe start with the one bag and go from there

i bought a preety big bag (25kg) and just pored it in to see fit for me

i dont know about where you're from but down here in Aus i got some sand used for pool filters which is pre cleaned already so id dint have to clean but when i told someone from the US on here they said it was orange -_-

but mine wasnt so its good anyways

good luck

I bought a 50 pound bag for my 55 gallon tank. Theres about 1/5" of sand throughout the tank on average. I know its not a 75, but that should give you some perspective.

50 lbs of playsand is only $2.89, here at home depots or lowes (hardware stores, for you guys outside the US) :)

Pillow case technique sound interested.

So cleaning gravel, is just running water till all debris is washed away?

So I guess your saying sand will settle and debris will float off?
