Well today was the big sand switch....turned out not to be as big an adventure as I thought it was going to be. The fish are temporarily in the 10gal and 6gal tanks until the water gets back to temperature. The water is sufficiently clear now, but the water temp is still too low.

I only have Rotala wallichii and vallis in there at the moment.....corkscrew, thin and giant.....the other plants I ordered won't be here till next week and include things like various amazon swords....

Any chance of bigger pics ? From what I can see, very nice indeed !

lovely!, you wouldnt think it was the same tank. love the plants too

the sand looks great :) what happened to all your plants though?

edit: lol sorry didn't read your text! just looked at the pretty pictures!

Just looking at my tank I have decided to change the background to black......the plants on the background detract from the real plants IMHO....

Totally agree. Black backgrounds look the best, especially in planted tanks.

OMG....another idea....I want to create an aisle down the middle of the tank (front to back) using vallis....this will happen once the existing val plants send out runners :p It helps I know now since I can place the other plants (when they arrive next week) accordingly.

I love val :D

It looks great and will look even better after you put the black background on.

BTW - what is the big bunch of plants on the right-hand side of the before pic?

Woot Chook! :) Nice looking tank you got yourself there! ;)

When are we gonna see the fish in there!?

That is blue stricta and grows like mad. And fragmented all over the tank, and had its roots growing down from the leaves.....I took it all out (which helped remove some of the gravel since most of the gravel was bound up with the roots).....

looks coool what fish have u got in there

I have platies, swordtails, bnose catfish and a single whiteskirt tetra. Today I am getting some rasboras :D The fish weren't in the tank when the photo was taken. That photo was right after the switch when the water temperatur was too low for the fishies. The fish are in there now and they like it
