Things in my twenty gallon went to crap after I moved, I couldn't get the tank set up for a week so they sat in a bucket, my java fern stayed wrapped in plastic for days, and I lost my driftwood in all the clutter so by the time I found it, it had gone slightly mouldy in the bag. That was about three or four months ago and the tank hasn't been right since. Just recently I boiled the wood and put it back in the tank, as my java was suffering from not having anything to attach itself to.

Now I've had an explosion in algae, it's not long, but its putting a fine covering on my plants roots, the tank walls and the gravel. The pleco gets the gravel cleaned up but since I did a water change and scraped the walls, I've had green clouds in my water. I added charcoal to my filter but it hasn't seemed to help much. I don't really feed my fish much, I haven't fed the pleco in weeks, I just recently re-added two adf's from a small two gallon I set up and was taken over instanly by algae, and a female betta from the same 2 gallon so I can start it over. I was planning on getting some more bettas for this tank over Christmas but this algae is making me wonder if I should wait, or what.

Can you post a pic of the tank so we can see what algae it is?

No, I don't have a camera. It's a nice emerald green though. My Java ferns still aren't doing so hot either, they've gotten a lot of brown spots on them and I've had to clip a few leaves off because they were so bad. I'm sort of wondering if maybe I don't have enough fish to support them...
