Swimming techniques

Hi!
I just got myself fishies and really know almost nothing about them.
Two of my fish are baloon mollys. And my question is this: they seem to have started swimming up and down (like making curves) and I do not know: are they just playing like that or are they feeling uncomfortable in some way?

Is your tank cycled? Have you tested your water conditions(EX: ammonia, nitrite, pH). My guppies would swim up and down my tank until i found out i had too much nitrite.

Welcome to the forum! And there are no stupid questions.
A lot of the time when I add new fish they act really strange for the first week. They swim weird or spastically or keep circling the same spot. Within about a weeks time even the strangest fish calms down and begins to behave in a pretty normal manner. If your tank is brand new I would bring a water sample to your local fish shop, they will be able to tell you if you are having any water quality problems. Also if your tank is new I wouldn't add any new fish for a while until the tank has a chance to cycle.
