The past two weeks, I have been living away from home (because of a job) and have only been able to get home to my fishies on the weekends. I have my mom feeding them and have given her some explicit directions on how to feed everyone. I also am doing tank maintanence on the weekends.

Today, I get a call from my mom saying one of my electric yellow labs is swimming in circles. From what I could gather from my mom, it is the equivalent of a dog chasing its tail. She says there is no other visable signs of illness. Asking my mom to test the water is out of the question (trust me on this one), so I don't know ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, or pH.

Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? I had her move him into a hospital tank, and started tetracycline simply because this doesn't sound fungal or parasitic. I also had her add salt.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I would search, but I am stuck on dial up, and a slow connectoin even for dial up.

I would issolate the fish straight away could be whirling desease.

He is isolated. Thankfully, I had the quarentine tank still set up. I have been told there are no visible sores or anything on his body, but I haven't gotten to look at him either. When I get home todya, I will do a water change and also test the water to see what is up.

Is there anything else that could be causing this? The only other thing I could think of was possibly a swim bladder problem.

Check if he looks bloated and what it look like when he goes to the toilet, swim bladder if he swimming fast in circles I doubt it is a swim bladder problem, they usually turn upside down with swim bladder but it's more kinda of slow, then have difficult getting back into there normal position.

ok, i finally got home to see the fish. he is constantly rolling over, almost like a dog would if you would if given that command. He is also at times chasing his tail. He is rolling over about once per second. No physical signs of illness besides how he swims. Is it whirling disease?

with whirling disease you should also notice a darkening of the skin towards the tail of the fish. Boils as well will appear.
he best you can do is isolate it in shallow water.

Not sounding good i'm afraid sound like whirling desease, he sounds like he's suffering would be best to end his life i'm afraid tttnjfttt, sorry.

Bless him sorry it awful, but he dosn't sound good at all.
