I will medicate from tomorrow when I can get to a shop, though I have read in the FAQs that it is rarely curable, thus my question is if it does affect all my remaining fish, how can I be sure it won't them affect new commers to the tank, how long will it live in water filter etc.

secondly it has thus far affected tetras, is it likely to spread to angels and cories as well?

I had a neon with swim bladder a week or so ago, I just quarantined him, and didn't feed him for a day. The next day I fed him a smushed up green pea, and it cleared it up. From what I've read, swim bladder is caused many times by constipation. The pea helps clear that up.
Hope this helps!!

yeah ture but i have had 20 fish die in 3 days so i think it must be a bacterial strain?? they cant all be constipated??

thanx tho

In my experience with swim bladder, only a few of my fish got it and the others were fine. However, that seems like a lot of fish to lose from swim bladder... are you sure thats what it is? The few fish of mine that have had it were all females and after a few months I could tell that their bellies weren't as swollen and they were fine, but a few of them did die because they were so huge. Good luck!

i am nopt sure at all thats just my best guess, based on the fish losing the ability to saty upright in teh water and kind of spnning end on is it were
