Swim Bladder

What is it? Does it only affect females? Can females get pregnant if they have it? I was just wondering what this does to fish... thanks

The swim bladder is an organ designed to kep the fish the same weight as the water it displaces so it floats at all levels. expansion and contraction of the amount of gas in the swim bladder is how fish go up and down!

Yes, Im referring to the disorder of swim bladder... Ive read that it wasnt very harmful but it can bloat the fish. I just wonder if it only affects females. Actually I don't know much about it I was just wondering what it is

Fish swimming with head down (not level) usually means swim Bladder Disease which is a bladder infection.

I believe fish will die of swim bladder disease so yes it might be considered harmfull.
