New to this game. Just bought a 14litre tank and a 2 orlando goldfish about 6 weeks ago. We have a filter and live plants in the tank, followed instructions to the letter befor putting fish in tank.
2 weeks ago one of the fish was struggling to sink we put some salts in water as advised by pet shop but 2 days later it died :sad:
Bought a new orlando 1 week later but same thing is now happening to the original one. Treated it with a solution for swim bladder seemed to help. But have noticed it floats to surface approx 2-3 hours after being fed(flakes). Then next morning its ok.
Any help much appreciated as Pets at home Are waste of time (wont be back there.)

Hi there and welcome to the forum :) .

I would have to say that first of all a 14litre tank is far too small for any kind of goldfish really, fancy goldfish are also quite prone to getting swimbladder problems. Swimbladder disorders can be caused by numerous things, from constipation, internal bacterial infections, to damage sustained from poor water quality conditions etc. so to treat the swimbladder problem properly you need to find the root cause of the problem.

You goldfish are most likely dying from New Tank Syndrome, also known as Cycling, right now. I would strongly recommend reading the article in the link below as your story is almost a text book example of new tank syndrome, the article will explain much on how the water quality in aquariums work and more;

Keeping good water quality in your aquarium is very important to keeping healthy fish- one of the no.1 causes of sickness and disease in fish is bad water quality problems.
If you do not have any already, i would strongly advise buying some test kits which can accurately test for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph (the Master test kit range is good) and test your water for these stats ASAP. Do you use dechlorinator/water conditioner at all? What type of salt did you use exactly in the tank?
