Hi i have some discus young around a month old and one appears to have swim bladder, it cant seem to control its floating well and often lays flat on its side and isnt a very graceful swimmer like the rest of them.

Im currently poping in some discus treatment hexamita by eSHa but im wondering if it is worth seperating this little fellow from the rest incase he is infectious to them, and ive also read its not very successfully treated so i may have to cull him as i also dont have much time or a hospital tanks.

thanks any advice will be great

Seems this isnt swim bladder

oops wrong diagnoses

Any ideas what it sounds like though

That does sound like a problem with swim bladder. It isn't contagious so don't worry about removing him.

Hexamita medication isn't going to do a thing, so discontinue using the medication.

Not much you can do though, as it's a damaged organ. Feed me him a small de-shelled cooked pea and see if it helps much.

Ok thanks i wont put anymore in im glad he cant effect the others to be honest hes kinda the run of the litter hes the smallest and doesnt look aswell devoloped as the others.
