I think my betta may have swim bladder disorder.

So I tried feeding him a boiled pea today, but it sank to the bottom, and I doubt he eats from the bottom of the bowl.

The 2nd pea is still floating on the surface but don't know if he will eat it , as he only eats pellets.

any suggestions how I can get my little guy to eat peas?

thanks! Allie

smush them up or cut them into smaller peices, mine sank to the bottom but after a few minutes of staring at it he finally ate it, and if you haven't already lowering the water level helps. :good:

I have one betta that lets the pea sink then sneaks up on it and attacks it. It plays like that for a long time. You might try to fast your betta for a few days, it is hard to watch them beg I know but it is easier than see them suffer. Make sure the pea is shelled so he can get to it.

As mentioned, you will need to smush them up. In the past, I have just used canned, green peas. I take them straight from the can, remove the hull and put them in the tank. They are already so soft they usually just float slowly to the bottom. He will also eat from the bottom is there is food there. One other option is to put him into a much smaller container for a couple days while you administer the pea.

I am trying to fast him for a day or two to see if that helps.

thanks all for your help!
