Too much evapouration of water from the plastic tank I was cycling for fry. Started it 2 weeks ago and used same gravel, water, filter material. Do I start againor should it cycle now in 2-3 weeks? Fishless cycling with fish food daily. :S

try putting some gravel from your established tank or better yet, some filter media in your fry tank. it will be cycled withtin a few days providing there is fish in the tank

But it's only been cycling 2 weeks, surely it is too early to add fish. I will add some gravel from an established tank though.

If the gravel is from the old tank and wasn't dried, it should still have the bacteria from the other setup. Same thing goes for the media. therefore, it should cycle quickly.

Do you have a tets kit to check the chemical makeup of the tank water?

Yes I have test kits and it's showing ammonia but haven't done any water changes as someone said this was unnecessary with fishless cycling. Is it true that you leave the tank for about 4 weeks from the start then do a large (50%) water change then add fish? Still a bit confused between fishless and cycling with fish. :S

That last water change isn't necessary unless you have high nitrates and you feel that your fish might be harmed by them.

But, yes, it takes about a month.
