3 Weeks ago my guppy had about 10 fry and by the time i could get to a lfs to get something so keep them in until they were big enough 95% had been eaten.
Now i only have one left and she is doing really well (think its a she)

Now my female guppy is pregnant again, what are your opionions on leaving them in the main tank and for them to fight for survival, let nature take its course if you will?!?

I do that, but they all get eaten every time. If you're ok with that, then it's not a problem. I wouldn't expect any to survive though.

If there are hiding place, some will generally survive. Plants like Java Moss will ensure hiding places without much fuss on the plant care. Plus it does a great job at polishing off the water.

i always leave my fry in the main tank and loads survive, i just give them plenty of hiding places :)

This morning all my first Guppy fry were eaten.....

I'm still going to leave them in the tank I'm just going to get some more hiding places!!!

I would get some floating plants like duckweed. I bought some for my tank, but it sometimes drifts next to the filter and gets pushed to the bottom.

And, you can't be sure that the remaining fry is a girl because it takes about a month to be able to sex fry, but most fry are female.

Also, don't be discouraged if this fry doesn't make it. Livebearers have fry monthly, so you will definatly get more fry soon. :good:

Hiding places work very well. Another post reccommended a floating named duckweed. IMO, do NOT use that. You will never get it away from your tank. Instead, use hornwart. Its more attractive than the name suggests, and it growl like no tomorrow! I have a heavily planted tank and my fry love it!

If you have no where to go with the fry then it is a good idea. However if you want more fish and have room, then i'd take them out. If you feed your guppies enough they should not eat your fry. However there is always the possibility that they may get eaten if there is not enough cover.

I forgot to mention that it was fake duckweed... oops... but if you want real plants than hornwart is definatly better.
