im new to this so not sure how this works but i need advice....my balloon molly had babies yesterday and as i wasnt sure she was pregnant i dint know when she was going to have them.. i have only managed to save one and it is in a baby breeding net and i wanna know do any of you think it will survive on its own without other babies???

It will be fine by itself. One problem with breedin nets is that they get dirty easily, with any fry food resting on the bottom of the net. The easiest way to raise fry is to remove them to another tank, but if the breeding net is your only option that's fine too. Just keep up on the water changes and try to suck out any uneaten food and waste from the bottom of the net. After a week or so I think it would be fine to let the fry out into the tank. When I have bred livebearers I just had lots of floating plants in the tank and would let the fry fend for themselves and would always end up with lots of fry.

ok thanks for the advice! i clean it regularly :) im going to get some good food to feed it this weekend as i heard shrimp is better than flakes for babies.. i raised 2 mollies who are now 10 months old and are still quite small so im wondering was that got to do with only been brought up on flakes?

Flakes are fine for fry, but I like to give mine a varity. Because livebearer fry are a nice size when they are born I usually feed them frozen daphina and baby brine shrimp ( you can hatch your own shrimp or buy it frozen ). Keeping the water clean is important for the growth of fry as well. I usually do 20% water change on my fry tanks every 4 days or so, some ppl may do less or more.

I had only managed to save 1 fry from 1 lot, it's still the only 1 of its type as the mother hardly gets pregnant.
But he's still fine, he's now mixed with other fry and gets along fine with them.

Growing them up on crushed flakes is a slow growth for them, but theres nothing wrong with it.
I use crushed flakes and freeze dried food, also frozen daphnia, which means they still get the normal but also bit more protein :good:
