Surface Sludge

Hi,

Could someone give me an idea as to how I can eliminate the protien buildup on the surface without causing much surface agitation. Would a sump/overflow system be okay to use with a planted tank? At least that would skim the protiens off the surface of the water. Thanks for your help!

When I get a film, I lay a sheet of absorbant paper on the surface, wait a few seconds then peel it off. Gone.

Okay, make a tank sized sheet of paper by carefully gluing bank notes together, preferably high denomination ones....

I think a lot of the higher tech solutions are going to introduce a fair amount of surface movement which the OP wants to avoid.
