Surface / Floating Plant Recommendations?

Hi,

Pretty new to planting up a tank, but have got stuck in recently and started off a few live plants. Anyway I am thinking of adding a few hatchetfish to my setup and I understand that I would need to provide some surface cover for them - can anyone recommend an appropriate plant to provide them with sufficient cover that a beginner like myself could easily take care of?

Salvinia Natans (spelling), also known as giant duckweed, grows like mad in my tanks. It arrived as bunches with large, tightly packed leaves, but new growth has shown smaller leaves that are more spread. The roots hang ~1-2" below the water line and the plants are much easier to control than the normal small duckweed. Strangely I am also considering some hatchetfish and thought they would like this plant!

for a noob go with duckweed you will be happy because you will seem pro since it grows like mad
