I have a small (5 gallon) tank set up with 6 guppies, 3 ghost shrimp, and a bunch of green cabomba in it. I originally had 3 guppies in the tank but added 3 more from another shop, and it wasn't until afterwards that I noticed an ick spot on one of the two males. I isolated him and treated him and it was gone within a couple of days, but now one of my 4 females has two spots on one of her fins, and another has one on her head and one on her tail. Now, the bottle doesn't mention it, but these females are pretty heavily pregnant. What I was wondering is if anyone knows whether the ick treatment will kill any fry? I don't want to let this go untreated, but there are only 2 fish who each have two spots on them, so it doesn't appear to be a severe case. I don't want to lose any fry, however, I also don't want to run the risk of losing my adult guppies either

Any ideas/suggestions, anyone? Thanks.

You have too many fish in there right now. Your best bet would be to upgrade to a 10 gallon tank. They sell them at petsmart for 10 bucks. Also, i used Cure-Ich whenever I have had ich in the past. Works wonders. You add 10 drops per gallon for 3-4 days.

I calculated it and due to the irregular shape of the tank, it worked out that I could have up to 11 inches of fish... :( This is my first tank besides my 12 bettas though so I'm not entirely sure how it works. Can I keep the 6 guppies if the tank's an irregular shape? They're all an inch long, or less.

Where can you get Cure-Ich? Petsmart or any other store like that?

Thanks for your reply.

I have been told if you use the medication it could harm the fry but I could be wrong... When I had ick in my tank I just turned up the temp and added aquarium salt. I didnt use any meds cause one of my mollies was pregnant.
Good luck :)

Perfect...thanks, I appreciate it! I'm going to give that a shot just to be on the safe side while I know I have some babies on the way and the ich is relatively controlled.
