My killifish has half swallowed an oto. They are both still alive but the killi is choking and the oto...well i can only see half of him. Please help me save at least one of them!!!! They are in quarantine so no other fish eat them.

I tried pulling the oto out but he simply wont budge! HELP!!!! SOCORROOO!!! AYÚDAME!!!!

I honestly don't think there's going to be anything you can do...I'm so sorry, this must be horrible for you :(

It is!!!! I mean ok, a fish ate another of my fish, and i love all my fish...but now they are both dying because of it! AHH!! Ill let them wait it out in quarantine, maybe the oto will get digested and ill have a survivor, but i doubt it... ='(((((

Oto's have little spikes on their fins like any other catfish that lock them in place whenever they feel threatened, thus causing a lot of pain to any potential predators. Chances are that's why the killi is having a hard time taking it in. hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd be surprised if either of them make it...

I'm sorry for your losses :(

But I have to tell you, this may be the strangest thing I have read in a while...

The killi (striped panchax) was 2.5 inches and the oto about 1.5.... Never thought I'd see a catfish get eaten, they're nearly ALWAYS left alone by everything. Plus the killi is always a top feeder and that's where he prefers to live, while Otos are bottom, plant, or glass fish...it's just so weird...so should I worry about my remaining killi and 4 remaining otos? Or was this a freak accident?

Seems like a freak accident, it's up to you on if you want to take action on it. Killifish do have large mouths, and they are predatory fish. Maybe feeding the one you have some live food and stuff will help avoid future issues.
