i jst fed my oscars and severums prawns for the first time, but then i noticed that the water kept getting more and more cloudy soon it was very cloudy. is this normal? or do i have to do a water change or something. another funny thing was that the oscar thought that the albino catfish was a prawn and ate it only tail was sticking out 1/4 of body. i went to get the scoop net thing but when i came back the oscar had spit it out. am i overreacting to this cloudy water?

Hi I think you will need to do a 20% water change think the cloudyness would be from the prawns , how many did you put in? you only need to put in a couple as they tend to go mushy very quick.
Hope this helps.

The filter could need a clean, check the impeller also.

thanx for the help i did a quarter change and it is still soooooooooo cloudy i think i might as well do a full change cause this is the last week of my school holidays :D . and i will wash everything there are bubbles on the top of the water rofl  does it mean that this is reali dirty?

 HI there don't do complete change might shock fish,, how many times aday do you feed them? as that can make water go cloudy try once aday in mornings with an extra pinch. for about aweek. Hope this helps
JJ :/

i did 3/4+ change i am so pissed water is still cloudy i have to now do full change cant think of any other way

Over feeding can cause cloudiness of a tank, it takes a while to clear.
What are your stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How often are you maintaining the tank.
Need tank size in gallons or litres, how many fish and which type.

i had that problem but ifirst siphoned the tank(gravel cleaning) then i emptied 2 inches from the gravel then refilled it, a while back it worked

3 oscars 3 inches to 3.5 inches 6 severums 3 inches 2 albino catfish not an inch and 2 silver dollars not even an inch. 150G. i dont have any gravel or anything ground is bare only 2 tubes and 2 rocks.tank is clean only cloudy :). i got no testers :-(. i rang up my LFS and he said might be ammonia level

Yep water changes, also how many gallons does the filter turn over an hour.
I would put it down to the prawns clouding the water, they can cause an ammonia spike if left in to long, as you can cycle a tank with prawns.
