I have two sunshine mollies and they have been in the tank 6 days. The one is quiet happy and is eating but the other seems to have poor vision and is slow getting to food and by then it has gone. the fish with poor vision just follows the other around all the time. He has a black pupil a white surround and then another black line on the outsie of the white part of the eye! hope that makes sense! Im just using flake food any suggestions??????????????????????????????

29 gallon tank!

Cheers Matt

What are your water stats? And has he always been like this, or has this developed? What are the sexes?

Edit: I'd suggest you throw in some kind of small blanched veggies, just because Mollies like veggies. Maybe some high-protein foods too. Just a little.

Water is spot on! I have male and female and I noticed the eye when I got them home from the LFS. Dont mean to be thick but what do you mean blanched veggies? examples?

Does the eye seem to be bugging out at all? Is it one or both eyes? Is it cloudy?

Blanched veggies? Like zucchini, cucumber, things like that. If you mean what do I mean by blanched, I mean boil some water, and drop the veggies in for a few seconds just to soften them up a bit. :)

Eye not bugging out, just one eye, not cloudy. Also I havnt seen this mollie do a poo yet! the other is at it all the time! What you think?

Why do you think it has poor vision then? I'm kinda confused...do you have a picture, by any chance? :)

It's possible she is constipated. You could try giving her a pea.

It takes a while for the fish to notice there is food floating on the top even though its 1-2cm away from the top. Ive noticed as the others get the top as fast as possible and this one doesnt!

Ah, I see. How long have you had s/he? 6 days? Any idea how different the water stats were in your tank, compared to the LFS?

It's possible s/he is still getting used to your tank. However, what you said seems to make me think one eye looks different then the other? Is this correct? :)

Is it possible to get a picture? That would help greatly.

Yep 6 days, I dont know what the readings where in the LFS, Yes one eye looks normal and the other is as I described before, I will try and get a pic on here. Never put a pic on so you will have to bear with me!

To me that eye sounds pretty normal, but I'm bad at visualizing things I hear.

The easiest way to put a picture in this section is to upload it somewhere. Photobucket and Imageshack seem to be the big ones. Pretty easy to use too. Or, you could always post in the Member's Aquarium and Fish section and post a link here. You can upload it off your computer there. :)

I have a yellow molly and I've noticed it is very clumsy when it comes to feeding. She gets all excited when food goes in but misses when she tries to eat it ???? She does not eat as well as my fat black molly and her bairn. Could it be yellow mollies are like that in general?
