If you have a male in the tank (or even if you dont...) its pregnant
Well...the female I was telling you about the other day only had 3 fry as she had a really hard time giving birth , and think she was pretty new to it. The female survived though and the 3 fry are doing well so far. I think 20-40 is usually the average.Dear oh dear.. Don't get me wrong I'm happy that she's going to have some but man oh man i hear they have loads.. lol.. BTW, how is yours doing drew?
Thanks a lot modaz for helping me out with all of this and for your support! I still cant believe she only had 3 but at least she is ok. Didnt think about pruning the plants, good ideafirstly Drew, so glad shes ok
when i know that im gunna have an explosion of fry and i know that i need to be sensible on how many i raise i just remave the females i want to save the fry from and leave the remaining pregnant ones in the community to have their fry and prune down the plants in the tank, they have them and none survive, its something that needs to be done at times.
congrats on one plump little girl, Drew has said it all so good luck on saving just a few.
My sunset platy i think is pregnant but i have checked for the black spot...it doesn't have one, but i have noticed this odd white spot near where you have suggested, does this mean she is pregnant or is it something else?If you have a male in the tank (or even if you dont...) its pregnantIn all seriousness though congrats your platy is pregnant. You can see the gravid spot and the fattened belly. She probably still has a little while to go but def pregnant. Watch for the belly to square, and the gravid spot to become very dark. Congrats again nathaniel
