How long is the pregnancy cycle of a platty?

It definately looks pregnant and i want to try and raise the fry. how do i know when she's about to pop?

A platy is normally pregnant for 4 weeks.

Keep a watch on her.

Ack.. forgot..
Livebearers tend to stop eating, hang by the filter, and sometimes dart around the tank. The darting is due to stress and pain of labor, all my fish do that. Their anal tube gets noticeabley larger, aswell.

Hi dshand2002 The answer too your question is every 28 days give or take a day. You will have so many in so little time. Trust me you wont know what to do with them all once they start really breeding. Do you have a lfs where you live that will take some of the babies off from your hands??? Because in six months or so you will have so many you dont know what to so with,

I just bought 4 platies about two weeks ago, 2 males and 2 females and one of the females has been pregnant and given birth THREE TIMES since I brought her home. How is this possible??? I've got several fry hiding in the rocks at the bottom of the tank to show for it and if this continies every four to five days I dont' know WHAT i'm going to do. Has anyone ever had this experisnce or know what the heck is going on with my fertile fish??
