I'm completely new to the hobby and could be more than likely wrong but iv read posts similar and answers come back to the oxygen in the water. Adding things such as air stones would oxygenate the water making things better for the fish who is desp for oxygen.

Needs confirming though :)

Is your tank large enough for an 18" monster catfish? :wow:

And it sounds like water quality issues to me. Do you have a test kit to hand to test water parameters?
Also, do you have airstones, or do you use your filter to create a lot of water disturbance? A fish this big will need a lot of oxygen.

OMG it get that big?!?! wow looks like i will have to upgrade
my tank soon!! oh and i just bought a better more powerful airpump
and stones

Yeah you'll either need to upgrade or rehome the thing, the place you bought it from should have told you how big they get.

It is 100% a sun catfish, just so there's no confusion? The airpump and stones will help :good:

EDIT

Apparently it is common for them to stop growing at 12 inches, but they can hit 18.

yea im 100% sure that its a sun cat

does anyone have any info on these guys? i cannot seem to find
a lot of info.
