im about to set up my reef tank and i wanted to know if in my sump i should have a light?
all im gonna have in there is my sand filter, sponges, lots of LR and lots of live sand, then i might add a clean up crew.
its a 10 gal sump

thanks

I would add a light and operate a reverse lighting cycle to the main tank.

This will help keep PH stable at night and allow far greater organisms to thrive in the sump. The light doesnt have to be powerful.

You'll need some photosynthetic organisms like chaetmorphia macroalgae in there in order to get the stabilized PH, otherwise there is nothing to export CO2 which would equal no stabilization of PH.
