Well, I have decided to go all out and do a sump and a refugium for the 38 gallon tank I am setting up. I was wondering, could I do two ten gallons instead of one 20 gallon? The reason why is because I don't think a 20 gallon would fit in the cabinet that the tank is sitting on. But, I am pretty sure that I could do two ten gallons on shelves w/seperate lighting. I'm sure it would be a pain to do the plumbing, but the LFS said they can drill the overflow holes for me (in the main tank) so I think I could do the rest. I was thinking that I could do one with a deep sand bed, LR, and some cleaners, and the other with mineral mud and caulerpa algae. Do you think this would work?

Yep could work :D

You would ened to do some work on plumbing these together but having seperate tanks as sumps is really no different to having seperate compartments in a larger sump
