I am after a sump pump for my 80L project was looking at the MJ1200 would this do the job the head height is is about 3.5 foot or do I need to look at diffrent pumps?

about 800LPH as I have a Korilla nano for extra turnover in tank :)

You ain't gonna get 800lph at 3.5ft of head from a Maxijet MP1200   They push about 200lph at 3ft head IME... You would want to be looking at small pond pumps, or possibly a small "hobby" pump. An Eheim 1250 would be good, or one of the Oase range...

All the best

Thanks Rabbut

I was nt sure if it would be upto the job will have a look around see what I can find :)

After a scan through a few sites "Eheim Compact+ 2000" looks good anyone have any experience with these please?

yea ive got that one as well as a eheim 1260 (the one up). I would go for the compact. Almost totaly silent (compared to the 1260).

Ive heard the bigger pumps (1250, 1260) are reliable but havent heard about the compacts yet. My tank is in my bedroom if i was to get another it would be the compact tbh.

The compacts *apparently* have a habit of gunging up quicker, and have smaller inlet guards on them than the "proper" pumps

If we assume strait up pipe-work (no bends), the Eheim compact 2000 will be fine, as with the Eheim 1250. If you are having bends and you want exactly 800lph, you may need the next one up in each range...

Ocean runner pumps are great quality but quite large
Cheap though!

Try looking at the Hailea range of pumps. I had a HX6530 ( I think). It was the 1750LPH version. They also manufacture a 1000LPH and a 480 LPH (which is currently providing the flow in my new nano I built. The good thing about them is that they can be used internally or externally and inline too, so they can be hooked up to other hardware with ease.

I can PM you a link for a retailer of Hailea pumps that are probably the cheapest around for them.

Cheers,

AK
