the other day i was going through my garage and i found a fountain in my attic it has a big pump i was wondering if it would be ok if i used it for a return pump on a sump. It has never been used in saltwater only freshwater and it has screws on it thanks! or i bought a tunze powerhead but i dont think that would be a good pump :good:

quite often fountain pumps have stainless steel in them, meaning its a no no. Even stainless is corroded by salt water over time. If No metal parts came into contact with the wate rthen maybe it would be ok. But usually fountain pumps arent very powerful either. You need 10x voulme in flow through the sump.
