So its winter here right now, and regulating a tanks temp is pretty easy... keep it warm :)

But im a little concerned, come summer, it gets hot here (Canada) around like 30Cor so usually, and the apt being on the third floor becomes very humid and hot.... usually about 32C or so.

What am i going to do about my tanks temp???

It will get as hot as the room..... only the heater wont solve this problem :)

what do i do about summer temps? We do have an A/C, but it is a little bit smaller than our room/space needs, so it takes quite some time to actually keep the apt cooler than the outside temps.... and thats running it 24/7 (we dont pay for electricity here :))

what fish do you have? they have different max temperatures so depending on the fish you may need to take appropriate precautions.

the easiest, but also most expensive way is to invest in an aquarium chiller, it hooks up to the tank and works in conjunction with your heater on a thermostat to keep the tank temp stable. Not sure what prices are like in canda though.

if you don't go for that you must remember the key to managing high temps is oxygenation. So get an airstone or a spray bar or adjust your filter output to create a lot of surface agiation.

also keep tank lights off in the daytime, open up the hood of the tank, get a fan blowing across the surface of the water if possible, just across the tank front if not.

get pop bottles fill them 2 thirds with water, squeeze the air out put the top on and freeze them, then you can float these in the tank to cool things down if it gets too hot, small water changes with cooler water also work.

do not switch your heater off, it'll be on a thermostat so shouldn't come on anyway and if you switch it off there's the danger you'll forget to turn it back on when it's needed.

The fan solution is what i use but you need r/o water to fill up the tank the evaporation is fast water change eliminates the need for r/o but can you do it every day??

why would you need to top up with r/o? are you thinking about saltwater tanks?

yes you will need to top up for evaporation but i see no reason to use r/o unless your using it for the tank anyway??

I have a lot of evaporation if i add tap water minerals ingrease and i already have problem GH=22+ so i have to bring it down to 10
and yes i use r/o

I have an RO system.... 6 stage RO+DI+UV :)

Also chillers are expensive as hell.... like $500 ... I simply cant afford that.

As of right now I dont have any fish at all... im still working on getting the setup running.... but i will have tropicals.... i just dont know what kinds of fish to get yet :)

So you can use computer blowers very cheap and effective
