Okay so firstly, I am aware most people would see me as spazzy for wanting to spend so much on a betta, but Ezekiel's a real pet, and besides a larger tank is an investment, I'd probably never use a 3-5g tank again, but a bigger tank is actually useful.

Oky dokes so Ezekiel's tank a Mirabello 70 (75l/20g) has finally bit the dust, the thing seems to have decided that it just doesn't want to be used anymore, but I've had to reseal leaks pretty much every year since I got it, and the inbuilt filter, heater and light went screwy within 6 months of buying and I've had it for 6 years now, so it's time to change.

I have $280 of Christmas money to spend on something really nice for Ezekiel, you know something that looks good etc... I'm toying over one of the larger aqua ones like the aqua one 510, but it seems like such a rip off $200 for a 75l tank? plus I'm not sure if the current would be to much for Ezekiel. or even what sort of filter it uses.

So any suggestions or ideas of what a prefect betta home would be is really really appreciated. I'm also considering placing Ezekiel in my 4 foot tank and buying a new tank for something else, but my worry is whether or not he'd be okay with the occupants (platies, a female guppy, kuhlis and cories) He chews his tail off every time he moves to a new tank so i don't want to go through that if I know he's not gonna be okay in their.

So what would be your perfect betta tank?

Seeing as he would be just great with corys, kuhli loach and platy, why not remove the female guppy and have him in the 4 footer? Sounds like a great big tank so you could add a pleco and some ADF and other species that would not bother him such as oto, snails, some get on well with sharks too. He's a lucky fish for sure

LOL ADF are illegal, wish they weren't would love some.

I'm just kinda worried over putting him in the 4 foot, dunno why, it has the least filtration of any tanks (2.5 turn over) because of platy fry, but it still seems to make quite a whirl pool, will see if I can rig up a spray bar for it.

The guppy is pretty drab, she's a tuxedo with a bit of yellow on her tail, I can stick her somewhere else easily though but will just see how Ezekiel goes with her first, as she really likes being withe the platies.

So platies are no problem? I thought they were? my are a calico strain covered in blue/green iridescence...

Not sure though, getting Ezekiel a new tank would be nice as well, as I have all the species of fish I've ever wanted to keep now LOL, I've had quite a learning curve this year, I learnt I didn't like cichlids, I love the labyrinth breathing fish, I like small fish and I like goldfish. Kinda different to my aim for the start of the year which was to own an oscar, Gryphyn my O found a new home when I finally decided enough was enough LOL.

Oky dokes then, at least i know the 4 footers a possibility.

Hmmm just thought of a slight problem with the 4 footer, it's 4 inches taller then Ezekiel's current tank, and Ezekiel hangs out on top of his filter at night so he can breathe easily, the top of the filter in the four foot houses the platies, guppies and the kuhlies at night, do you think Ezekiel would be fine resting on top of a heater? as the last thing I want to do is exhaust him to the point he can't get up to breathe, and plastic plants aren't an option, he rips his fins up on them and I found a cory with the stem of a plant through it's gill once, and I can't find silk plants tall enough...

Hmmm that's a bit of a prob
