I posted earlier on this forum on what tank size would work best for my mono who is presently homed in my 45 gallon long (48x12x18). If at all possible i would like to keep him in there because he's straight up awesome, but if this will be stunting him i will gladly return him so he can go to a tank that is far better for him. Also i think i may be able to upgrade to a 55 gallon if that improves my chances of keeping him. So if keeping him is out of the question i am left with an empty 45 gallon brackish tank. The filter is rated up to 75 gallons so predatory fish are fine. I have the feeling that i can get my LFS to order anything but Neovespicula depressifrons because i already asked and they said no.

Any stocking suggestions?

Monos get along with anything they can't swallow whole. Scats are superb companions, and in my experience, they socialise quite well together. Archers are another option, and you can easily keep them with some of the predatory catfish, like Colombian sharks or Mystus gulio. A waspfish that wasn't so small it looked edible would be another option. Otherwise knight gobies, sailfin mollies, orange chromides, etc. are all possibilities.

Are there any specific types of fish you're interested in? Predators? Livebearers? What about invertebrates? At SG 1.010+, you can keep things like blue-legged hermit crabs for example.

A singleton in a 45 gallon aquarium will be okay, though at the least make sure there's lots of water current and oxygen. They're surf zone fish, and can be delicate in (relatively) small tanks. As/when a 55 gallon tank is on the cards, that will be a useful upgrade.

Cheers, Neale

The fact the the mono can stay is awesome :hyper:

Colombian sharks and Chromides are probably my favorite out of all the fish here. Ill use your FAQ to read up on them. :good: . Invertebrates may be hard to find but ill read up just the same.

My 75 gallon HOB is pretty good as far as dishing out current, but I plan to get at least a semi powerful powerhead to give an even better current for the mono.

I love Neovespicula's but from what i hear they are quite hard to rear and me being in High School doesn't give me much time for my fish. Plus im in on the Pacific Coast of the US so it would be a little hard to get to Wirral.
