I will introduce myself in the plant people thread (when the boy stops playing on cbeebies and let's me near the computer!) but I wouldn't feel comfortable writing a plant listing up. I don't feel I've been doing it long enough: just as I would not consider myself to have legitimate experience after having a bristlenose for a month, I don't don't feel I've got enough experience to create a detailed information sheet about any of the plants I have. I think that's why people don't volunteer to write up an index about any of the missing fish either. If you're looking for info it's usually because you either don't own it, or are new to owning it. If you are an experienced owner why would you be looking for info about them in the index in the first place? Therefore the people who are experienced enough to do a write-up don't know one needs doing, and the people who need info and notice there isn't any aren't brave enough and go elsewhere for their information needs.
I don't agree with this at all, and frankly I think it's a cop out. Sorry if I'm being harsh, Coldcazzie, it's not my intention. I just don't think "not knowing" is a good excuse, for example...
This was my first plant profile... From March 2006. I had only
just started with planted tanks...
Hygrophila Polysperma
IMO, you learn by doing things and writing about things you
don't know. I had just put the plant in my tanks. I took a couple books and internet sources, read about it, sythesized the imformation, and then did the write-up. The majority of my write-ups are, in fact, done quite early in my Planted tank phase and if you look carefully at them, I cite the sources I used. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with using other source to do your write up, you just have to put the information in your own words and then give credit where credit's due. Am I making any sense?
By the way, SBS, just saw your contribution, will read through it and approve it, thanks.
I just wrote a long message here listing things that the planted section needs then found them all lol, they just weren't very obvious is all.
What's not obvious about a pin at the top of the section that says
Planted Aquarium Resource Centre? I'm sorry, I really want to know because when I designed PARC, I thought I was being pretty obvious. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing. Please, don't feel that you're attacking me if you have constructive criticism. I teach at a university and when evaluations come it, I read them very carefully and will adapt my teaching style for my students. Why I always get excellent reviews.

Ultimately, I think it's really just about how different people absorb information. I personally can read for hours on end and not get overwhelmed, but that's me. I know others cannot do this.
Like I said before, Ian and I are always working to make this section better and to help newbies any way we can.
