I have a 30 gallon tank, with 2 dalmation mollys, 1 small blue gourami, 2 clown loaches, 1 blue loach, and 2 plecos.

Iam wonderinf what suggestions you guys have for me!
I don't think bala sharks would work, right? :X

I like fish that are very active/skittish! Or fish who loves to show themselves off

Treated well a Bala can grow to around ten inches long so you are correct about not keeping them in a 30 gallon tank. I would try any of the medium barbs, in particular rosey barbs. There are a few color varieties of rosey barbs that have come out recently including Neon and blushing rosey. They grow to just under four inches long and in tanks with undergravel filters it is possible to spawn them in a community tank.

What happens in a tank with an undergravel filter is that some eggs are sucked down far enough in the gravel so that they are not eaten by the fish in the tank. Then when the eggs hatch the baby barbs are pulled down through the gravel and end up living under the filter plate feeding on food pulled down through the gravel layer. After some time the babies swim up the lift tubes and then you wonder where the new fish came from. While judging a fish show where the fish were judged at the home of the aquarist I noticed some small under 3/4 inch rosey barbs in a tank and asked where she had bought some so small. She answered that they had just appeared one day. I looked under the tank which did not have a solid bottom and saw two more little barbs still under the filter plate. Needless to say this will not work if the lift tubes have electric powerheads on them.

Thank you very much for that! That was veryyyy interesting
That was quite interesting :)
I thought about barbs, but I heard they can get a bit agressive and nip on other fish tails

As for the undergravel filter, I dont think I would be able to afford it :X

Do you know where they sell playsand too? I'm trying to go for the more natural look, but I can't seem to find playsand. I tried homedepot in my area, but for some reasn they don't have it either. :(

You are correct that bala sharks would not be good in a 30 galon, they grow to 12 inchs. If you want sand don't worry about a under gravel filter because you can't use that for sand. I got my sand at Menards it was play sand brown about 2.70 for a fifty pound bag. Try and home improvement store. Like Lowes, Menards etc, I'm suprised HomeDepot didn't have any. Thats were my buddy got it but he got white. :good:

Later in life clown loaches need a large aquarium as they can get pretty big. They grow slow so you can keep in a 30 for a few years, then they need a bigger home.

Bala Sharks grow pretty fast, so even they they are little when you first buy them but in a few weeks they get too big to keep in a 30, so it's not such a good idea.

Someone gave me a few little sharks and i just had to take 'em in, the cute little things unfortunatly........the critters keep growing. I need a bigger aquarium, hopefully i get one.

I've read king tiger plecos and tank raised BGK (black ghost kinife fish) are suitable for a 30.

wow
Thank you for that info

black ghost knife fish - I had one, but it died I think because the water was too cold and I didn't have any heater ( I had one but it broke so I had no choice :( )

But I also heard that ghost knife fish eat life foods only, if I had some, would I be able to feed them microworms? I'm culturing many microworm cultures
