One of my balloon mollies just died suddenly :(. I have a 10 gal. with (now) 1 balloon molly, 2 platies and a dwarf bristlenose pleco. I just did a 40-50% change. Before the change my levels were: pH 7.4, ammonia 3-4ppm, nitrite 0ppm., temp 78., gH 11.
Do you think Conrad's death was due to the ammonia? Unfortunately I did not do a fishless cycle. He does have kind of a silvery looking something on his gills. Is this a parasite? Aslo, before he died, he kept getting stuck in the plants.
Other fish alternately seem to shake or sit still for long periods of time. Does this sound like ammonia?
Are the rest of my fish at risk? Obviously I need to get the ammonia levels down, but should I do anything else?

How high was the ammonia reading.
Yes ammonia can kill fish and yes they can shake and twitch with bad water stats.

Mollies can suffer from the shimmies get you some info, looks like there swimming in place.

Look under shimmies.
