I seperated bert and ernie for the better part of 3 weeks. and today I took the divider out to see if I would have to keep them divided yes there is still some aggression with each fish defendin his side of the tank viscously but if they stay to each side of the tank they don't care. in fact they are jawlockin cause bert decided to see what was goin on but now other than that everything just seems to be fine and dandy.

not when it comes to fish if she has a fish ? she comes to me first then I go online if I don't know the answer

UPDATE: well they are still testing the boundries.... I think that bert remembered that he was king fish last time and I think that he is a bit dissapointed that he isn't cause he has gotten the worst of this one shreded fins and bite wounds all over the place but ernie has put bert in his place and said that this half is mine. cause bert just gave up which isnt like him

I think that it will to but you know SA/CA cichlids just as well as I do bro and even though they have been done with all of the testing of the boundries for about 10 mins who knows how long that will last, but I do have to medicate the tank now as they are both pretty much beat up( but bert is the one that got it in the end)

hey smb that is a good ? and I know that I have been asked in the past by other members with aggro cichlids, what I do is I round up the number of gallons in the tank from 55 to 60 that way I am dealing with usually a nice number. for a 55 gallon tank I use a 2 cup plastic measureing cup fill it up about half way with tank water. then I add 6 teaspoons of melafix and 4 teaspoons of stress coat. I then give it a good stir in the cup and add even parts of that mix to both sides of the tank.

oh I almost forgot that it has been 4 hours since the last fight so I am thinking that unless something goes wrong before I go to bed that things have settled down.

What temp is the tank? Maybe you can put it down to 78 for a couple weeks to help cure any aggro?

I just fed them a heavy meal of flakes and bloodworms for ernie and pellets and a peice of beef heart for bert

they are so fat and lazy now that they are just sittin doin nothin

Might just have to try it in a bigger tank and it should work.
