ok i was looking at a few substrate options before my light comes in. The guy at my lfs uses ADA substrate and on the website it says it softens the water so I am not sure if i want that with my fish. SO could someone take a look at my signature and tell me if those fish can live in soft water. My second coice of substrate would be a flourite planting material topped with sand. Does anyone know if this is good or if I should do sand topped with flourite I am pretty sure it should be flourite topped with sand so that the roots can get nutrients from the flourite?

If you use the ADA it is receommended that you wait a while (1 month or so) before adding livestock as it leaches a lot of ammonia in the first few weeks.

What about the flourite topped with sand would that be good? I am planning on having a HC ground cover.

fluorite would work
