Can I use a garden soil as a base underneath sand?

Personally I wouldnt but I'm pretty sure it is possible (but you cant just dump it in there). I do remeber reading an article by someone (think it was Jeff Walmsley) that mentioed they used garden soil. i dont remeber the details thoughand dont even remeber where I read it now

It is not reccommended , as garden soil like are too high in Nitrogen and other traces. It will burn your aquatic plants. + soil is damn messy when filled with water!
