i have a substate called aqua grit, its meant to be good for the plants or something. Does this sound ok? I didn't know if this was the best thing for plants to grow in :S

Also, do any of you know the best way to get rid of snails? :D

thanks!

What snails are they? Some snails - ie Malaysian Trumpet Snails - are actually quite useful

thanks, they're really useful :D

anyone got any ideas on the substrate?

thanks!

im not sure of the name :S
but they're fairly small, dark brown/greyish and the shell goes quite pointy. They look shiny and they shells feel hard when you try sqeezing them  but theres loads of them, like hundreds. The surface of the gravel moves becasue they're under it :(

thanks

Hmm they sound like MTS - do they come out during the day?

Clown loach are good at keeping numbers down - but they require larger tanks. What size is your tank?

I've got 2 clown loaches, they're only about 1 1/2 inches now, when they get bigger i'll see what i can do then, maybe get a bigger tank.
The tank is 100 litres, is that about 30 gallons?
I'm not sure when they come out, I put cucumber in for my chinese algae eater and they cover that when I wake up in the morning. So maybe night time, but I havn't really looked :S

thanks

i googles MTS, some look like that, but most look even shorter than that. It's more a point than a spiral. :)

I've got quite a few MTS; I wouldn't worry about them, they do a very good job of turning the substrate over. Mind you, it's a bit of a shock when you're looking at the substrate and it starts moving, isn't it?.
