Hi everyone -- I'd like to change the gravel in my tank. After a lot of research I've decided, sand isn't the best option for me, I've narrowed my choices down to these two substrates, mainly because they are beneficial to plants, which I want to start growing eventually.

Substrate #1

Substrate #2

Will either of these work for Corydoras? I don't have any currently, so it's no big deal if it won't work for them.
Also, will Corydoras overstock my tank? How many could I get before having to worry about overstocking??

Corys definitely prefer sand. Anything that is rough and jagged will damage their barbels and also possibly their bellies. For a planted tank, you may want to do some research on this substrate. I have looked at it a couple times but never tried it. It is a substrate for plants but it is rounded and a lot smoother than the other ones. One of the LFS near me uses it in the tanks they have set up (the owner is big into aquascaping and has some beautiful setups). It does look good in he tanks.
