I have never had more then a guppy or two nor tried to breed them so I'm not exactly sure what to put in the tank. I have a ten gallon tank a little more then halfway full with 4 females and 2 male guppies. I'm going to buy a breeder box soon and I have a single small plastic plant. Otherwise the tank is empty. I have some store bought sea shells that I could put but I've read both positive and negative views on those so thus far I have not added anything. Any suggestions for substrate and plants? Thank you!

Hello sandyroz :),
When I had guppies, I used a sand substrate mixed with gravel. To me it looked really nice.

Thanks! I ended up buying some typical colored fish gravel with some fake plants and a cave like structure where they can swim in and through.

Any substrate is suitable for a guppy. As for plants, any broad-leaved or tall growing plant would do just fine
