Substrate and Floating Feeder Rings

Hey y'all!!

So I keep seeing these feeder rings and just wanted to get some feedback as to how to use them and are they worth it.
In my 75gal tank, I am swapping out my black gravel for Black Diamond Sand. I have done alot of research on it and have decided to make the switch (not to mention that I was gifted a 50lb bag, SCORE!!). Some say to rinse it while others say it's not necessary. I will be transferring my 9 Neon Tetras to a 5gal that I set up yesterday. I've never done this before and just would love it if I could get some suggestions, recommendations, instructions anything really. TIA!! I appreciate y'all!!

I would rinse the sand out just in case if they are dirty, and on the floating feeder rings, I also use them on my 75 gallon because the current in the tank is pretty strong. I use them to keep the food from going all over the tank
