Substate Depth

I have read that 3in is ideal, is this depth actually necessary? I have two 20lb bags of eco-complete in my 29 gallon and it puts the depth at 1.5" in the front and 2" in the back. Should I get another bag?

Help is appreciated, my plants are supposed to be in today.

Depends what you want to grow really. It if is just stems along with plants grown on wood/stone then I wouldn't bother. However for Crypts and Swords and to achieve a great perception of depth then I would add another bag.
