Substance On The Surface

Over the last day or two I have noticed a weird substance floating on the top of the surface of my water. Its like a cloudy transparent water. What is this and is it dangerous?
There aren't any fish in there just plants.

i had the same problem a while ago but after a few days it had gone away, i was told by my lfs that it was nothing to worry about, but please correct if i am wrong
how long has it been like this?

It's likely a film of oil from putting your hands in it. The filter should take care of it.

That's reassuring it does make sense I've had my hands in the water a fair bit lately. It has cleaned up over half the amount after checking it this morning. Thanks

It can also be from the oils in the fish food.
