stupid question

this is prob kind of a stupid question )

the last plant i bought came planted in this little black pot with like foam looking stuff in it. do i take the plant out of the pot? what do i do with the foam? right now i just kind of planted the whole pot cause i didnt know what to do with it but its sticking up and looks ugly

I just planted the whole pot, made sure the whole thing was buried.

yea, sometimes, i just bury the whole pot but most of the time i take the plants out and plant them.
btw, i dont think there's a stupid question, only a stupid answer...

take teh pot off, it will give the plant more more to spread its roots peel off the sponge stuff really carefully so as not to damag the roots.

I've done it both ways, imo it's much better to remove the pot and get rid of the rockwool, hair algae seems to ~love~ rockwool, and it breaks apart and forms a nasty mess in the substrate after awhile.
